By Nutritionist Tina

From the ages of 45-55, a woman’s biological clocks winds down, signalling the end of fertility and the reduction of the hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. The decrease in hormones level will cause changes within your body.

What are the early signs of that signal a deficiency of oestrogen?

-Hot flushes and sweats

-Aches and pains

-Vaginal dryness

-Bladder problems

-Dry and ageing skin

-Poor sleep

-Mood swings

-Irregular menses/periods

A number of studies have shown that differences among women going thru menopauses are also dependent on their lifestyles. Exercise is important not just for your general health; it improves your bone density and alleviates the symptoms of menopause. Diet too, has been shown to make a difference.

The diet should

-Contain less than 20% of calories from fat.

-Restrict meat

-Be rich in variety fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

-Include at least one serving a day of tofu or some other soy product.
